GRINDING & POLISHING

Alma Sheet Metal Limited has its own in-house fully equipped Grinding & Polishing Workshop. Our staff are fully trained and are kept up to date with modern techniques and equipment to help maintain both our customers' and our own standards.

Dependent on applications or specifications drawn up by the customer, Finishes can range from a uniformed bead blast type finish - through to satin finishes from 60 - 320 grit, then for a more reflective finish using soaps to achieve a mirror image.

Welds both internally and externally can be polished to be crack and crevice free and can be checked for flaws using dye penetrant complete with certification.

Surface finishes are checked to specified Ra standards if required and are measured by our Inspection Department using calibrated surface scanning testing equipment.

Basic cleaning of surfaces can be achieved to keep costs down such as welds left as laid which have been pickle pasted or beads that have been ground smooth then strip buffed polish.

Alma also provides an all over pickle and passivating facility complete with certification and an electropolish finish if required.
